I had the random urge to make scones today, I just imagined how nice it would be to have one before work and then I was off. Which is funny because I work at a bakery and already make scones there ahaha. I of course wanted to incorporate some tea into them and here we are.
I took a simple scone recipe and just changed a few things up.
I don’t have a coffee or spice grinder so I had to think of another way to get the tea into this. I figured I could make tea butter (yes like weed butter shush). I took a stick of butter and about 3 spoons of Daunt’s triskelion blend and brought that up to a boil, and then turned off the heat and let it steep for about 5 minutes. After that I put it through a coffee filter (that’s all I could find ahaha) and wrung as much butter as I could out of it. The coffee filter broke and i had a couple leaves get through so I suggest actually using a sieve or something and not be a dumbo like I was. Then I put the filtered butter into the fridge to let it solidify.
After that you can use it like normal butter and cut it into the flour mixture your scone recipe asks for.
Then to the normal recipe I added some cinnamon and all spice just to give it some added flavor. I coated these in a lemon glaze, just your typical lemon juice/zest, powdered sugar, butter glaze. And they are just divine!
I can’t wait to see what other teas I can make into baked goods!
